Camp Info link.

A CALL FOR PRAYER
At present the Melton family is dealing with some of those trials and tribulations that come to those who are of the Master's kingdom. Bro. George is suffering with advanced cancer and tests are still underway as he is hospitalized in Joplin. Krista is dealing with leg cancer and taking treatments for the same. Please keep this a matter of prayer as to the Father's will and their continued faith and trust.

YES HENRY THERE WILL BE A NORTHMEN NEXT YEAR... 2011
As announced in our last issue we are in the process of planning our final meeting of the Northmen. We have decided to end with 50 sessions and just let the Northmen die being what it has always been. We have had inquiries and apparently there are all kinds of rumors. This is no rumor! Lord willing the final meeting will be held August 9, 10 & 11, 2011. Same place same set-up. We have most speakers already committed and see no problem with use of the property through another year. There will be no big fanfare. No beating of the drums. We will just meet like we always have with our theme being: "Final Words". Each messenger is being asked to deliver a message that he would choose to deliver if it were his last chance to preach. Get the word out, help us keep the rumors down and help us have a great final meeting in the woods.

NORTHWOMEN TO CONTINUE
Our understanding is that the Northwomen meeting will be continuing on after 2011. We are thankful for that. We are in no way opposed to another meeting of some type for the men (or maybe a joining of the two) being attempted. We just are saying the Northmen as such will be done having carried out its intended purpose for these 50 years. We encourage anyone and everyone to take in as many of these types of meetings you possibly can.

CAMPING OUT
If you camp out at the Northmen grounds please remember you need full shelter and full food supplies. We provide water, wood, milk, ice and bread at our cost. Your camping gear needs to be complete. Shelter, camp fire tools, dish washing needs, cooking needs. Sleeping bags (it gets cold at night) and rain gear. Rope, maybe a rake, table, chairs, shovel and such are all necessary. Fire starter, plastic sheeting for an awning might be handy, bug dope, lanterns, flash- lights, food supplies for the number of days. Water jugs are needed for carrying water from the well and storage. You will probably also want some type of ice box. The nearest store is at least ten miles. I am sure we have missed some things but this gives you the idea. There is no electricity for camping.

Remember to gas up before you come into the woods. It’s a long walk to the pump.

OUR RULES ARE SIMPLE
No smoking or fire works. No firearms. Knives and hatchets must be kept under control. No greenwood is to be cut, marred or burned. If you put something in a tree or on it take it off before you leave. Bikes and ORV's slow, slow through camp. Prepare a fire circle. Put fires out if you are not in camp. When leaving douse the fire pit with two buckets of water. Boys are expected to be in daytime sessions and in the big tent with dad or guardian at evening sessions. Always leave your camping site as you found it. Sites are first come first served.

Remember please that no firewood is to be brought to camp. Wood is provided at a nominal cost. We practice a quiet down time at 10 each evening. Stay up all night if you like but quiet at ten. Garbage is to be bagged and taken to the dumpster.

BOY'S DAYTIME MEETINGS
Juniors meet back by the creek and there are two sessions each morning. Leaders provide teaching, singing and activities. The lessons correspond with the main theme topics. Afternoon sessions will be recreation. Dads have your boys go to your campsite if they get out of meeting before you do. We can always use help with these sessions. Contact us if you are interested.

Unfortunately there will be no bike Rodeo this year.

Teens meet at the back of the grounds and they have two morning and one afternoon session each day. Randy Peasley from Sault St. Marie leads these sessions. Speakers come from all walks of life and deal with topics from the main theme. No canoe trip is being planned.

PROMOTION
Over the years we have depended on word of mouth and our mailings to promote. As you are well aware postage costs have greatly increased. We e-mail notice our paper posting on the web to over 1200. We mail this letter to about 850. If you want to copy this letter and hand it out please feel free to do so. Of course just keep inviting guys to come. We will add any address to our e mail file or to our snail mail file.

CAMP COST
Use permits, use charges, insurance costs will all be covered if each person gives us $1 per each day on the grounds. We will provide envelopes for each camp to handle this. All other expenses are covered by our evening offerings. It seems to average about $15 per person for those other costs. This year we have begun in the black due to generous offerings of last year. All gifts by check for the Northmen should be made out to the Northmen, Inc.

THANKS FOR YOUR PRAYERS
We recently signed papers to complete the sale of some of the Northmen property held here in Ogemaw County. Those monies will be used primarily to finance work in Thailand. We have been working with Asian Gospel Outreach for several years now in promoting a Northmen in Thailand each December. This year we may begin one in Myanmar. This mission has a youth hostel where children are taken in and schooled in a Christian education. We have sold the property (after five years) with the intention of using those funds to help develop a new hostel area and particularly to build a new school. Thank you for praying about this with us. We praise God for this step and look forward to more children being trained properly in Thailand.

THE WORK CONTINUES
Though this meeting will not go on the ministry will. We will continue teaching small groups where ever they are found. We will also continue to develop leaders for small group churches. We will be continuing our teaching through Northern Michigan Bible Institute and seminars and meetings. We expect to do such until we are called home or out of commission.

Our ministry involvement in Thailand includes traveling there annually for Northmen, and also acting as forwarding agents for Asian Gospel Outreach. This ministry obviously will expand as more and more brothers in Thailand see the need to practice the priesthood of believers.
